Fly-A-Ways RC Club is holding an RC auction on Saturday, Feb 18, at Twin Oaks Air Park in Hillsboro, OR. Seller and buyer registration and check-in starts at 8am, with the auction at noon. Could you please distribute this info to your club members, and if possible include us on your club’s event calendar? I’ve attached a copy of this letter, an auction flyer, the auction rules & requirements, and a seller registration form. These forms and info can also be found at http://flyaways.org/
If any of your members have something they’d like to sell please encourage them to pre-register by filling out the sellers’ registration form and e-mailing to President@flaways.org The pdf form can be filled out and saved, then e-mailed as an attachment. Anything associated with RC planes, helis, boats, and cars is welcome for sale.
Pre-registration allows us to get the seller’s contact info and items for sale entered into our auction data base in advance. Then, when the seller checks in on the day of the auction, all that remains to be done is to have our auction staff apply identification stickers to the items and group them on the sale tables. This is a first come first served event. Sellers’ items will be auctioned in order of registration. Sellers are encouraged to answer questions from prospective buyers before the auction starts.
We hope to have many items to auction and expect the action to be rapid. Minimum starting bid is $10 for any item, so please group sale items if necessary to achieve value. An example would be to group 10 batteries as 1 item rather than selling them individually. If you group items it would be helpful if you could provide a bag or box to hold them. There will be no “minimum bid” assigned to any item, such as a seller requesting a minimum of $100 for a radio. If a seller is dissatisfied with the bid their remedy is to bid on their own item. If they have the highest bid they essentially purchase their own item but are liable only for the commission on the sale. If there are no bids on an item it is recorded as a $0.00 sale and the seller takes the item home. As items are auctioned they are marked with the buyer’s number, then placed into impound. When a buyer checks out he is provided with a receipt that allows him to get the items from the impound clerk.
There is a $5 registration fee for all sellers and buyers, paid at registration on the morning of the auction. The sales commission is 10% with a $30 cap per seller. We can only accept cash or checks for purchase of items. Sorry, but we cannot accept debit or credit cards. Sellers will be paid by Fly-A-Ways club check after all buyers have paid for items. If a seller needs to leave before the event is over, Fly-A-Ways will mail a check.
This is the first year of what we hope will become an annual tradition. Hope to see you there for the fun!
